Solar Energy Management Engineer

Subsystem Summary:

Aeronautics decided to design & build a solar-powered electric UAV, to maintain leading innovative UAV development. The new members of this particular sub-team will mainly deal with solar panels and energy management. They will cooperate with the rest of the sub-team’s (Aerodynamics, Structural, Avionics) topics of interest.

This is a crucial “collaboration” since the main objective will be, as detailed below:

Position Description:

  • Solar panel selection, in order to collect the required solar energy
  • Solar panel constructive feasibility
  • Energy calculation and distribution so as to supply all electronic subsystems during flight
  • Battery selection and application
  • Solar panel simulation using electronics software

Preferred Skills:

  • Renewable Energy Resources, Solar Energy
  • Familiarity with computational frameworks (MATLAB/Python/Octave)
  • Electronics and Electrical Circuits
  • Familiarity working with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and peripherals
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Eagerness and enthusiasm
