
Rocketry Project
Sub-team summary:
The Propulsion sub-team is responsible for designing, manufacturing and testing the rocket motors. Currently, the sub-team develops solid rocket motors that must be reusable, must have consistent performance and launch the rocket safely to the targeted altitude.
Position Description:
A Propulsion Engineer – Nozzle Designer will be expected to perform:
- Analysis and design of rocket nozzle
- CFD simulation of exhaust gases in the nozzle
- Update computer analysis codes
- Nozzle material selection and assessment of structural integrity
- Data processing from rocket motor static tests
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of the basic principles of multiphase, compressible and incompresssible flow, acoustics, thermodymamics, thermochemistry, mechanics and materials
- Familiarity with CAD software (Solidworks)
- Familiarity with CFD software (OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, CFX)
- Familiarity with computational frameworks (MATLAB, Python)
- Experience with mechanical tools and materials
- Ability to provide practical and reliable design solutions
- Excellent organizational and communicational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
