Rocketry Project

Sub-team Summary:

The Propulsion sub-team is responsible for designing, manufacturing and testing the rocket motors. Currently, the sub-team develops solid rocket motors that must be reusable, must have consistent performance and launch the rocket safely to the targeted altitude.

Position Description:

A Propellant Scientist will be expected to perform:

  • Manufacturing of solid propellants
  • Experimental and theoretical study on propellant combustion
  • Research on new propellants and manufacturing methods
  • Research on testing methods
  • Data processing from rocket motor static tests

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, physical chemistry, thermodynamics, thermochemistry, statistics
  • Hands-on experience in chemistry laboratory
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety rules
  • Experience with mechanical tools and materials
  • Ability to provide practical and reliable design solutions
  • Excellent organizational and communicational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
