Rocketry Project

Sub-team Summary:

The Recovery sub-team is responsible for designing and manufacturing the parachutes as well as the ejection mechanisms for their release in order to safely recover the rocket.

Position Description:

A Recovery Engineer is responsible for:

  • Thorough research on recovery systems and rocket science in general
  • Analysis and optimization in the design of parachutes
  • Manufacturing of parachutes (sewing, etc.)
  • Ground testing of the ejection mechanisms for the deployment of the parachute
  • Cooperate with the rest of the sub-teams for the design and manufacturing of the ejections mechanisms
  • Cooperate with the rest of the sub-teams for the development of the electronic signal that ignites the ejection mechanisms
Preferred skills:
  • Knowledge of Fluid Mechanics
  • Familiarity with CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Familiarity with CFD software (ANSYS CFX, Fluent)
  • Experience with sweing
  • Experience with mechanical tools
  • Ability to provide practical and reliable design solutions
  • Excellent organizational and communicational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
